Based on RVparkReviews we checked out this Iowa State Park, and liked what we found. Stayed a week in a full hookup, back-in site that faced the lake. I think there's only 30amps here, however neither ours nor the 43-foot big-rig a couple spaces down seemed to need more juice this time of year. First tier of campsites back up to new playground equipment and block-style bathrooms/showers. We used neither, however both were cleaned regularly and neat. Lush grasses, groomed trees and trimmed landscaping grace the ample spaces between sites and add to the entire ambiance at this 1062-acre park surrounding an 171-acre, no-wake Lake Anita. Understand the lake is stocked with largemouth bass, crappies, bluegill: a popular fishing hole with concrete boat ramps. Great blue heron, deer, squirrels and the occasional fisherman greet you on the bike/walking trails. Separate areas for tent camping and day-use picnicking with several strategically placed dumpstations at exit points. Little town of Anita's 18-hole golf course is just over the hill, however not accessible from the State Park area. There were no additional fees for visitors, day-use, pets, or even extra kids. Sturdy fire-pits with grates at each campsite, and better yet, there are several cute eateries less than a mile away in town. Clear view of the southern sky for satellite TV and full-reception on Verizon air-card and cell phones. Are we in Heaven? No, just Iowa.

Price reflects no discount: however they will discount if you have their KOA card. We were escorted to a well-groomed, dead-level, full hookup, pull-through site that was wide enough and long enough for our rig and tow car without unhooking. Park signage is minimal at best: however Trailer Life directions got us in without a problem. The park has beautiful tall trees and they have made good use of lush, blooming olleander as privacy hedges between the sites. Satellite TV, Verizon air-card and cell phone all performed strongly. The location and no-fuss friendly office makes this park perfect for our overnighter needs when traveling I-40.

For just an overnighter, this park is not so optimum. The suburb location on rather busy streets makes for somewhat frustrating access. No true pull-through sites unless (as others here have noted) you are the first in. Price noted is for a full hookup, back-in site on lean gravel. Beautiful trees grace the park, however had no problem with satellite TV, Verizon air-card or cell phone reception. Cheerful, exuberant office lady coordinating the evening check-ins like an air-traffic controller. She got us all in like a pro: had a full house by dark and it was quiet. Can attest to this park's big-rig accessibility as two magnificent 45-footers with tow vehicles, maneuvered with ease into the last remaining pull through sites before dark.

Price reflects a Triple A discount for a full hookup, pull-through site that was long enough to accommodate our rig and tow car without unhooking for the night. The entire park, office and gift shop areas were neat and clean as a whistle: very inviting and refreshing. We took advantage of, and enjoyed the on-site BBQ dinner. There is an active train line across the street, however the local airport take-off pattern was more of a sleep nuisance than the trains. Satellite TV, Verizon air-card and cell phone reception was strong. From our perspective: this is a friendly, customer-focused, clean, safe, level overnight place to park, eat and sleep before hitting I-40 the next morning.

Price reflects a Good Sam discount for a full hook-up, level, pull-through site. Ok, our site was just barely long enough to squeak into without unhooking the tow-car for the night. Another friendly, quiet, easy access place to rest overnight while traveling I-40. No problems with satellite TV, Verizon cell phone or air-card reception.

A small park located beside a nice Best Western. Friendly check-in complete with a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! All pads are paved, however it would be ugly tight if this park was full. Easy satellite TV, Verizon air-card and cell phone reception. Price paid was for full hookups on a level, pull-through pad that was long enough to forego unhooking for the night. An excellent location for an overnighter while traveling I-40. Easy walk to Denny's for grand-slam suppers.

Rate is based on a monthly stay for full hookups (including cable TV) in a premium, back-in site. Electricity is then metered and paid separately. Plenty of elbow room with extra-wide spaces to park tow vehicles and still have room for your own tables, chairs and such. Second year we've over-wintered at this delightful, gated resort. Enjoyed the pristine pools, modern workout facilities, mild winter weather and gregarious snow-birds! The laundry, showers and restrooms are spotless. The front office ladies are welcoming, customer focused and delightful. Cannot comment on the Tengo Wi-Fi, as we long ago converted to Verizon air-cards for hassle-free internet communications. No problems with satellite TV or Verizon cell reception. This resort is located in a desert area not far from Palm Springs, so anticipate miserable heat in the summer: however there's an active bunch of year-round folks who'll just adopt you if you look the slightest bit wilted or lost! An amazing resort team: I'm sure we'll return.

We were pleasantly surprised! It is off the beaten 101 path, but easy to get in/out from highway 199. There were relaxed off-season rates The staff is friendly. It was uncrowded, level, and comfortable. There was strong satellite TV, but cell phone/air-card reception was a bit slow. Numerous close-by trails to soak up magnificent old redwood groves and the Smith River. We would revisit.

We enjoyed an off season rate for a nice pull-through with patio, chairs and table. A peaceful park with full hook-ups. Our cell phones, air-card and satellite TV worked without issue. Half dozen stored trailers and park models yield a tired, cobbled look upon entry; however the warm, friendly staff helped offset that first impression.

The strong points are: stunning location on north bank Rogue River complete with working pier and boat launch; sweetheart manager who not only enjoys helping, she's good at it. Weak points are: awkwardly steep entry from very narrow north bank river road inland from 101. Drive the center line; take it slow. Rates are too high for off season; river is too low for the jet boats/fishing. It has a claustrophobic feeling. The place looks/feels tired, but everything (50 amps, water, sewer) works. There is a clear view of southern sky for satellite TV and cell phone/air-card reception. Because it is a hassle to get into, you need to stay a while to offset this.

Price noted is for a full hook-up, pull-through with AAA or Good Sam discount. A tad high priced for off season in the middle of nowhere, however there are limited choices on this portion I-5. Not a destination rather a safe, new, clean, big-rig friendly stop on your way up/down the central valley. Great cell phone, air-card and satellite TV reception. There is easy on and off roadway with multiple newly-built fuel and restaurant options.

One is between a rock and a hard place for a classy, full hook-up site in this portion of the California. It is easy to drive past the Fairgrounds sign and not so easy to turn around in this older town have to drive through the school parking lot to access it. It is just a place to pull-in and plug-in and, yes Highway 101 is terrible here.

Big rig friendly: easy in/out, level, 50amps and clear view of southern sky. Pull thrus, back-ins and several choice nose-ins. Off season yields more elbow room between neighbors. Great base camp for exploring area, or just vegging in the provided chairs by the river. Friendly and informative staff! We'll be back.

Enjoyed this park so much we revisited on the return trip. Acres of well-kept lawns and cool trees set on backdrop of the Columbia River. High marks for plenty of elbow room between sites, walking paths and friendly staff. Choose site based on whether you need clear view of southern sky. No nearby crossings, so all you hear is train rumble...no horns. Loved this one.

Husband rates this park a 6 due to low hanging branches and open bathroom/laundry design yielding privacy/ventilation challenges. I rate a strong 7 for beautiful ambiance, friendly front office, cleanliness and ease of access to 101. Packed gravel internal roads with grass parking pads. Price noted w/o sewer hookup. Limited Verizon cel/broadband service. This one will appeal to those who are rustic travelers at heart: overlook some rough edges in exchange for a magnificent setting.

Perfect for RVers looking for safe, clean, level, no-hassle pull-thrus in South Newport Bay area: 50amps, cable TV, cel and broadband reception. Sparkling new bathrooms/showers/laundry area separate from the heavier used marina facilities. Too closely packed for open fires, tables, but plenty of bbq's and crab boiling pots going...smelled heavenly! Deliciously cool summer base-camp: unhook the tow-car/bikes and explore to your hearts content!

Finally Astoria has a classy alternative to the very busy Fort Stevens State Park, or the pricey/crowded Warrenton/Seaside KOA! Big-rig friendly RV park overlooking magnificently lush new golf course. Right off business-101 in south Astoria: 25 level, packed-gravel, 30/50amp, pull-thrus and face-ins completed at this post. Cable TV, Wi-Fi, clubhouse and plenty of grassy elbow-room. Excellent satellite and cell reception. Misses a 10 as septic/dump station and laundry still off site... (Oregon growth initiatives very slooooow). Saavy, outgoing owners are a delight! Wonderfully close to all the fabulous history and sites of Astoria...we'll be back!

Thanks to RV Park Reviews, we stopped here on the way up I-5. All easy pull-thrus on level gravel. Wee bit of grass and park bench between sites, 50amp full hook-ups, satellite dish and cell phone worked nicely. Friendly front desk with Good Sam, Triple A and AARP discounts. Pull-through sites too cozy for long-term stays but plenty long for big-rigs and leaving tow-vehicle hooked up. Hot in July, so windows closed with AC/fan overnight, but only heard robins singing when opened the rig up for morning coffee and breakfast. Checked out the clean bathrooms and pool area with morning walk. Convenient ARCO station to top off the tank before hitting the road again. This one is marked on the map for return visits.

Cool, green oasis in the middle of nasty, early summer, northern California fires. Easy access from I-5. Quiet, clean and friendly. Plenty of pull-thrus for anyone needing just a day without unhooking: 50amps/full hook-ups, level gravel, grass side yards, table and flowers. Plenty of dog walking territory. Couple longer-term folks based here with the firefighting efforts, but their sites as with the entire park and facilities are crisp, clean and modern. Can catch satellite TV reception in most sites. Would enjoy revisiting!

Modern, well-planned and orchestrated RV park. Choice of bay-view w/marina or Umpqua River view as it flows into the Pacific. Had a chance to enjoy both. Magnificent. Daily rate (noted) drops if your stay extends into weekly increments. Level paved sites with grass, table and fire-pits. Facilities clean, neat as a pin with the friendliest caretakers. No problems w/ satelite TV, broadband, cel reception...or extending our stay. Front office, check-in was delightfully efficient and friendly! We'll be back.

Grand, palm tree lined entry on the west (new side) of Hemet. Easy access pull-thrus for overnighters, clubs and big rigs. Have doggie and non-doggie side to keep piece with longer term/snowbird residents. Front desk was friendly, knowledgeable: determined our wants (quiet) and located us w/back-in. Plenty of space for tow-car, patio chairs and then some. Things must have changed since that May 2005 review, as folks have bikes, BBQs and holiday decorations out and undisturbed. Clubhouse sparkles: pools, workout room, new laundry, meeting rooms. Wow. Classics to brand-new park-models sprinkled about the perimeters. Park seems to cater to adults: volleyball, horseshoes, water polo; but we saw behaved teens joining in. Friendly snowbirds from Canada and northern US abound. Enjoyed our stay.

This has become our home-base RV park to visit family, grandkids in the area. With the widest, paved sites we've ever seen, sparkling clean bath/shower areas, and 29-day stay limit to keep RVs from growing roots, this is the ONLY place to stay in the greater Temecula area. Easy access to: Vegas-style Pechanga Casino complete with top-name acts, plus Temecula area wineries, eateries and services. All cellular, air-card computer and satellite TV reception available. Note: weekends are 100% packed with club RV rallys and a veritable who's who of high-rollers mixed with classics: people and RVs. Missed a '10' rating due to the constant boom-town atmosphere of heavy equipment noise building neighboring golf courses, boutique shopping, etc.

A pleasant surprise quite close to all things San Diego. We stayed in the upper section for three months: August through October. Monthly rate was a considerable break over daily rate. Upper section roomier, newer, easier to align our satilite TV dish. Site a bit narrow, but not a problem for a 32-foot, double-slide motorhome, with tow-car parked in front. Several folks obviously here long-term, however all RV's were newer models and the sites were well maintained. Landscaping was beautiful! Handyman/gardener was approachable, helpful and comfortable with people. Immaculate front office and lounge. Classy bath, shower and laundry areas. No problem with Verizon phone and air-card computer access. REALLY enjoyed the no-campfire environment. We rated conservatively as we watched longer RV's struggle to maneuver and, although accessability was great, the I-15 freeway noise was hard to ignore.

This was a great spot for us to unwind for a couple days. Easy access from I-29, yet far enough from the freeway to enjoy quiet evenings. Close to new Lewis and Clark visitor's center, expansive lake and the little community of Onawa for groceries, fuel and restaurants. Had good cel phone, computer air-card and satellite TV reception.

Great owners operating this park. No problems extending our stay. Opted for the newer section which was secluded and surrounded by great scenery. Had cellular, air-card computer and satellite TV reception, full hook-ups, beautiful location and quiet...all for $22/night! Understand ALL area parks get crazy during the Sturgis rally, however at 1 month previous, we had plenty of elbow-room and decided to base-camp here to tour entire corner of the state.

Convenient I-90 access. We stayed several days as mini-base camp: touring area in tow-car. Great tree sites, but we opted for tree-less (sites 61 - 64) for satellite TV reception. Popular weekend campground; multiple boat ramps accessing this magnificent river. Cleared out nicely during the week. Typical old river town: this older campground is surrounded by low-rent neighborhood. Felt out-of-place in new model RV.

Exit ramp and access has changed since 2007 Trailer Life publication! Lost in Vegas (sounds like a TV show) so called the main number and they helped us find our way in. Rate reflects Triple A discount. Raging windstorm forced change in our plan/mad scramble to locate stopover: usually we pass Vegas by. Clean, neat, level concrete pads, efficient and friendly front desk. Our pull-through site was incredibly noisy from trucks air-braking for exit ramp: even drowned out planes approaching McCarran Airport. Very large RV resort, so will request quieter spot if we pass this way again. So much available on-site, we did not even unhook tow-vehicle. Waited out the 2-days of howling winds with excellent Verizon air-card satellite TV, and cell-phone reception. Good news: the winds kept adjoining construction team grounded while we were here...so can't comment on the morning reveille other reviewers have noted. Who sleeps in Vegas anyway?

Pleasant front desk and clean, gated park. Sites very close to each other. Only real issue was the incredibly busy highway literally on-top of this RV park; noisy and a challenge for larger rigs to ease into and out-of traffic to enter campground.

We fell in love with this place. Initially booked for 3 days, stayed for 2 weeks with improved nightly rates. Front office team; the best we've ever encountered. Patiently walked us through our first WiFi computer hook-up as NO cellular or computer air-card reception when we visited. The proximity to Zion National Park was the initial draw; however, this RV park became an excellent base-camp to enjoy the broader spectrums of St. George, Cedar City and highway 89 through Zion and into Coral Pink Sand Dunes. If it didn't freeze for weeks on end, we would winter over here.

Sad little park. The staff was almost too eager to help us to our site, free weekend if we listened to a membership presentation. Perched on a cliff with our back-end lower than front...precarious at best. We don't recommend this park for big-rigs! New management trying to overcome devastating southern California fires which left this place 80% charred. We wish them the best...but will not re-visit.

I rated 8, husband rated 6. Great ranger staff, clean, new facilities. We had off-season pick of rather few places for larger RVs, with that fabulous desert-evening quiet. Watched Super Bowl with ease on satellite TV. Rest of RV crowd at newer resorts in town. Pass if in-season, as too few level sites for larger RVs, or you have young kids to entertain, or not into hiking, biking, and just contemplating life.

We stayed several weeks here. Bare-bones bath and shower areas. Weekdays are peaceful, quiet: birding, fishing at dawn, walking trails, magnificent sunsets. Warning: this is THE place for the local weekend-warriors who arrive like clock-work Friday evenings with truckloads of dogs, kids, bicycles, bbqs, firewood and attitude. We spent weekends holed-up in the RV enjoying the complete nightmare of drunken humanity through the windows. Rangers do not reappear until Monday mornings: assess the damage and share stories of even nastier weekends past.
